Fish contains high quality protein and omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory effects, lowering levels of the bad cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and raising levels of the good cholesterol, HDL cholesterol. However, because it is a source of protein, it should only be consumed in small amounts if kidney function is impaired.
